Dermatologist Recommended Solutions For Repairing Sun Damaged Skin

Long years of being exposed to the harmful rays of the sun can certainly make your skin pay. When exposed for a very long time to the sun, your skin will have the tendency to become dry as well as rough. In addition to that, you will eventually notice dark spots and uneven patches. As a cherry on top, you will also get to see fine lines and wrinkles due to the loss of elasticity on your skin.

With this in mind, more and more women and men are becoming conscious about the health of their skin. If your skin has already been damaged by the sun, then there is a need for you to reverse and repair the bad effects that the sun has on your skin.

Here are some ways on how you can bring back life to your already damaged skin:

Broccoli Sprouts To The Rescue

You may have already heard of the amazing things that broccoli can do for you. When broken down or eaten, this vegetable releases glucoraphanin. When this enzyme mixes with a naturally occurring enzyme called myrosinase, a new substance is formed. This substance is the one responsible for healing the damages brought about by sun exposure. It detoxifies your skin. In addition to that, it helps protect your skin from the UV rays of the sun. Your skin’s defense against sun damage will surely be boosted since it also stimulates production of new enzymes. Aside from eating broccoli sprouts, this can also be topically applied in order to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Take Advantage of Antioxidants

In order to boost the antioxidant effects if broccoli sprouts, it is recommended that you eat or drink substances that are rich in antioxidant such as green or red tea.

Exfoliate Properly

One good way to bring back luster and vitality in your skin is to exfoliate it. However, this must be done right. Some dermatologists recommend chemical exfoliation as opposed to scrubbing since chemicals have the capability to dissolve the skin cells, making it more effective.

Consult With a Dermatologist

If you wish to find an effective and efficient way to reverse the effects of the sun, then you need the professional help of a dermatologist. These experts know a lot of ways to get rid of the effects of sun damage and they can tell you what the most effective step that you can take is. They can prescribe medication and vitamins or they can suggest laser procedures that would work well for you.

Once you have repaired the effects of sun damage on your skin, it is recommended that you take steps in protecting your skin from the sun. You can try talking to your dermatologist about the various ways your skin can get protected. Follow all her instructions if you wish to maintain the healthy look and appearance of your skin.

The best thing you can really do is wear a sunscreen with a high SPF. That’ll help more than anything.
