An Uglee Pen for a Beautiful Writing Experience

Alright, it’s really not all that ugly.  It’s just called UGLEE which is short for Ultimate Grip by Lee.  That’s an ultimate grip pen designed by Dr. James Lee.  This pen is considered to be the most comfortable ergonomic pen around.  I know because I have and Uglee Pen on my desk right now.  I got it in the mail and I found it interestingly, well, odd looking.  But, I’m always open about trying out new things.  Although people today do not write using pen and paper as much as a decade ago, it would still be worthy to consider this pen as that one pen you should have in your purse all the time.  It’s especially great for students who have to take notes and write long essays by hand and for writers like me who still write drafts the traditional pen-and-paper way.

Fingers cramping, joints tingling, and wrists hurting – these are feelings that I do not want to go through ever again.  It’s nothing like the way Harry Potter’s hands felt while using Professor Umbridge’s blood quill, but writing half a dozen drafts certainly is uncomfortable enough.  I do love writing and typing on my keyboard is so much more convenient than writing by pen.  There are times, however, when I still have to go the conventional pen and paper way of note taking.  I’m happy to have this pen from Dr. Lee to write my notes when covering news worthy stories.

Dr. Lee’s innovative pen is amazingly comfortable to write with.  It’s just the right weight at less than half an ounce.  The grip is also not a problem since the “oddly-shaped” body is actually contoured and engineered to conform to the hand’s anatomy.  Dr. Lee spent years tinkering with all sorts of pens and machines to come up with this pen, going as far as closely examining the structural makeup of the human hand by studying x-ray images among others.  As for the ink, you can be assured of a smooth flow with an ink system that works better than roller balls, gel inks, or even fountain pen inks.

I’ve never lost my love for writing, I just found ways to write other than with ink.  Now, I’ve awakened the traditional writer in me.  I think I’ll be writing more by hand from now on.  It’s great that I can share my Uglee Pens with my little one as they are also designed to help children prevent repetitive stress injury and other hand injuries.

I do a lot of writing, believe it or not. And I would really appreciate a pen like this. I not only would like it for the comfortable grip, but also for the better quality ink.

I for one, have a great interest in this Pen……I have carpel tunnel in my right hand and wrist and this might be just what the Doctor ordered.

  • Mindy

I have fibro and have developed RA, and my hand gets incredibly sore quickly when I have to write (like at conferences etc). I love that this was specifically made to reduce stress on your hand.

  • Becky Schollian

My G’son got one of these for Christmas. They are odd looking but definitely write smoothly. It’s his favorite pen.

  • Jennifer Mae Hiles

Wish I would have learned about these back in high school/ college! I wrote so much my fingers would go numb! Looks like a great design and I think they would make a nice graduation gift.

I do a lot of writing and a comfortable pen really does make a difference. It’s something you don’t think about until you try it.

  • Krista Grandstaff

I am a pen fanatic…and have used these before…they are pretty incredible…no skipping, no ink blots…just a smooth write 🙂

  • Jeanine

I am curious as to just how much this reduces the cramping from writing. I don’t do a lot of writing so it doesn’t take much to cramp anymore. New innovation that’s welcome!!

Retirement has its perks…I don’t write so much anymore, but when I do, I like a smooth-flowing pen. Uglee or not, these sound like a good product.

  • Sandy Cain

Yep, these are fugly alright – but what great reviews! May just check it out. Tired of swiping cheap pens from TD Bank. (sshhhh…don’t tell them)

  • Mer

Interesting idea. I was a bit skeptical of the ergonomic design, but thanks to your review it sounds like it works well.

I honestly know nothing about the Uglee Pens until now. And I want one to know more about it.

  • md kennedy

I have to try this pen! I still write quite bit by hand – usually editing – and no matter what pen I’ve used over the years, my hand does get tired. This may be my savior!

  • kathy crenshaw

They have given the best name for the looks of the pen. But it doesn’t matter how it looks as long as it does the job. According to the reviews it does as it says it would. I would really like to try it. I think it would help improve my hand writing. I have found that I do need a better made pen and this looks like one the I would want to use. Thank you.

I unfortunately I suffer from RA and JA(jaccoud’s arthropathy),and this pen would really help my hands from cramping. That’s my biggest problem…the cramping I have when writing. Love the review. Its very informative!! Thank you!!

  • Sherry Compton

Would love to try these. I like how they are created by a doctor to relieve stress on the hands. My hands tend to cramp after writing awhile.

  • anne conover

I think it’s fantastic that someone actually studied and made a pen that is actually made for writing! This would be awesome to use on a daily basis for those of us who write a lot!

  • Robin Wilson

I love that these were developed by a doctor. As someone with arthritis I know that a good pen can make all the difference.

  • Maria Iemma

I had to laugh at the tittle, but they really are ugly. I do not write much now but used to and I remember how tired my hand/fingers used to feel. Good product.

  • LAMusing (Adriane)

I like it makes for more comfortable writing – but I’m not enamored with the large word Uglee on it.

  • Ann C

Wow ! These pens look great. I do a lot of writing at work, also
take a lot of messages. Having a pen that won’t leave you hand
sore and cramped would be great.

  • Sharon Siqueiros

My husband has one of these and he loves it! He won’t take it to work cause he’s afraid he’ll lose it hehehe. Looks like I should enter the giveaway so I have one for myself

  • Kitty

I hope this pen becomes more popular and replaces the regular pens on the market today. It’s about time someone comes up with a pen that’s actually tailored for human usage

  • Marissa M

I write all the time but often get a bump on my finger from where I hold the pen and these would probably solve that problem!

  • Betty League

I have college age kids that don’t write as much these days as we did. But there are times that they put down their computers and write the old fashion way…lol. They would make awesome birthday gifts because of the design and style. I like them personally because of there comfort. thank you

  • Jessamine D.

I hold my pen differently and my hands get tired and achy after I write notes when I was in college. This would definitely be worth trying 🙂

  • Nancy

These would be really good for when you have to have a pen in your hand for a long time – like writing for awhile, signing lots of documents or grading papers.
